“The extreme fatigue that you might not see on stage, I do have. And that is sometimes mega-confronting,” Heesters writes. The singer received her last cancer treatment in February.
To become “fit” again, Heesters decided to train a lot. For example, after her treatments, she first followed oncology physiotherapy three times a week for two months. “This gave me confidence in my body again. Where I first thought I would have to start at 0, it actually became -10.”
The singer noticed that she had lost her strength from before her illness. Although she is doing better now, she also says: “I’m not where I want to be yet, but very proud that this is already possible. And sometimes it’s just too much and I have to take an afternoon nap again.”
