Australië heeft een visum voor Ye ingetrokken na de release van zijn nummer Heil Hitler. Volgens immigratieminister Tony Burke was het visum al toegekend, maar weer ingetrokken vanwege de “antisemitische tekst” van het nummer.
“Het visum was niet bedoeld voor concerten, hij heeft familie hier. De functionarissen hebben naar de wet gekeken en staan er als volgt in: als je een nummer maakt dat nazisme promoot, willen we je niet in Australië hebben”, zegt Burke tegen ABC. “We hebben genoeg problemen in dit land zonder dat we ook nog onverdraagzaamheid importeren.”
Volgens de minister komt het vaker voor dat een visum wordt ingetrokken om uitspraken van de aanvrager. Meestal gebeurt dat bij een visum voor publieke optredens.
Rapper Ye bracht het nummer in mei uit. De vrouw van Ye, Bianca Censori, komt uit de Australische stad Melbourne. Het stel trouwde in 2022.

Rapper Ye released the song in May. Ye’s wife, Bianca Censori, is from the Australian city of Melbourne. The couple married in 2022.
