The ground staff of KLM will still go on strike next Wednesday, unions FNV and CNV have announced. Among others, security guards and desk staff will stop working for eight hours.
“We want KLM to come up with something concrete for the ground staff. We don’t buy anything for vague promises,” CNV writes Wednesday. “It’s simple, without ground staff no plane takes off,” says FNV.
Last week, the court in Haarlem prohibited a 24-hour strike by ground staff. The unions already said that this did not mean that it was over with their actions.
“We have every confidence that the strike can go ahead this time,” says CNV negotiator Souleiman Amallah. “Based on the passenger figures that we have demanded from Schiphol and KLM and the agreements we have made in the security consultation, we are convinced that this strike can take place in a safe manner.”
FNV wants people with physically demanding work to be able to stop working earlier. KLM staff must also maintain their purchasing power. According to the unions, KLM remains vague in its commitments.
