Bij een ontploffing in het Amsterdamse stadsdeel West zijn in de nacht van maandag op dinsdag vier mensen gewond geraakt, meldt de politie. In het gebouw ontstond brand, waarna meerdere bewoners van de eerste verdieping sprongen om weg te komen.
Door de brand en de rook in het trapportaal van het gebouw aan de Orteliusstraat konden de bewoners van de bovenliggende appartementen hun huizen niet meer uit. Daarna besloot een deel van de bewoners te springen.
Tien mensen werden nagekeken door ambulancepersoneel. Vier van hen moesten worden behandeld omdat ze rook hadden ingeademd. Een van hen had ook een verwonding aan zijn voet door de sprong uit het pand.
De brandweer heeft meerdere bewoners naar buiten weten te brengen. Na het blussen van het vuur werd een klein gaslek ontdekt, waardoor bewoners niet direct terug konden naar hun huizen. Politie en veiligheidsregio kunnen niet zeggen of bewoners komende nacht wel weer thuis kunnen slapen.
Op een foto die de politie deelt is te zien dat de ingang van het pand flink beschadigd is geraakt. De politie onderzoekt de zaak.
