Olivia Munn has developed an obsessive-compulsive disorder from reading online comments under her photos. The actress suffers from trichotillomania, a condition in which someone feels the urge to pull out their own hair.

In Munn’s case, it mainly involves pulling out her eyelashes, she says in a new episode of the podcast Armchair Expert by Dax Shepard.

Munn dated fellow actor Chris Pine for a few months between 2009 and 2010. After photos of the couple appeared online and people knew they were in a relationship, Munn made, in her own words, the “terrible mistake” of reading the comments underneath.

“They claimed that I had planned the photo opportunity,” she says. There was also criticism of the now 44-year-old actress’s clothing choices. “That’s where my trichotillomania started.”

“It’s a feeling. I think: it feels like this eyelash is almost falling out, even though it’s not,” Munn describes the condition, which she still has. “When you pull it, you have a brief moment of pain. Then you feel some satisfaction and then you immediately regret it.”

Munn is now married to actor John Mulaney. Together they have a son and a daughter.
