Wesley Sneijder feels no itchy for new girlfriend: 'Well feelings'

Wesley Sneijder doesn’t know if he is in love with his new girlfriend Romy. “I’ve been through too much for that,” the forty-year-old former soccer player says in the new SBS6 program Het Waren 2 Fantastische Dagen.

In the program, three Dutch celebrities stay together in a villa for two days, without knowing in advance who they will be with. Sneijder shares the house with Jaimie Vaes and Igone de Jongh.

Vaes and De Jongh ask him about the age of his new love. “She will be 24,” says Sneijder. “For me that’s no problem. In the Netherlands everyone is allowed to gossip about that. That’s just jealousy.”

The women also want to know if he is in love. “What is in love? Butterflies? I don’t get butterflies anymore at forty,” he says. “I used to, but I’ve become hardened in that. I’ve been through a lot. It’s perhaps also a bit of fear.”

Yet Sneijder emphasizes that there are definitely feelings involved. “Otherwise I wouldn’t put it online,” he says, referring to a photo that Romy posted on Instagram earlier.

The former international was previously in a relationship with Yolanthe Cabau. The couple broke up in 2019 and have a son of nine together. Sneijder says he would find it difficult if Cabau gets into a new relationship. “I wouldn’t be at peace with it. I would accept it. That’s something else.”
