Missed penalty coveted PSV player Tillman is not fatally on Gold Cup

A missed penalty by Malik Tillman did not prove fatal for the United States in the Gold Cup on Sunday night. The Americans were too strong for Costa Rica in the quarter-finals after penalties (4-3).

After regular time, the score was 2-2 at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Malik Tillman had missed a penalty in the 37th minute. The PSV player, desired by Bayer Leverkusen, shot the ball low against the post.

In the penalty shootout that had to decide the match, Tillman was accurate. Andy Rojas missed for Costa Rica, after which Damion Downs did score for the Americans.

The United States will face Guatemala in the semi-finals. The other semi-final is between Mexico and Honduras.

Tillman played an important role in PSV’s league title last season. He also scored in the championship match against Sparta.
