The Dutch 3×3 women’s basketball team has reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in Mongolia on Saturday. In the quarter-finals, they convincingly defeated Australia: 21-11.

Janis Boonstra, Noortje Driessen, Ilse Kuijt, and Evelien Lutje Schipholt quickly took a substantial lead against Australia and did not relinquish it. Shortly before the end, Kuijt sealed the victory with a two-pointer.

The semi-final and possible battle for gold will follow on Sunday. In the semi-finals, the opponent will be Canada or Spain. The two countries will face each other later on Saturday.

The 3×3 women’s basketball team started the World Cup with two consecutive defeats, but recovered impressively. The team has never won a medal at the World Cup. In 2017, a fourth-place finish was their best result.
