Miedema, Groenen and Janssen play 125th international match for Oranje against Finland

Vivianne Miedema, Jackie Groenen and Dominique Janssen will play their 125th international match for the Dutch national team against Finland on Thursday evening. The three experienced players are in the starting lineup for the farewell match in Leeuwarden.

Miedema was the first of these three players to make her debut. She debuted for Oranje on September 26, 2013, with a 0-4 victory against Albania. The then seventeen-year-old Miedema came on the field just before the final whistle, replacing Lieke Martens.

A month later, the now 28-year-old Miedema scored a remarkable hat-trick by scoring three times within sixteen minutes in the 7-0 victory against Portugal. The count has continued: with 97 goals, Miedema is now the all-time top scorer for Oranje.

Janssen made her debut half a year after Miedema. She was nineteen when she made a substitute appearance in the 2-2 draw against Australia on March 5, 2014. A year later, like Miedema, she was allowed to go to the World Cup in Canada. Oranje was eliminated there in the round of 16 by Japan.

Groenen first played for the Dutch national team half a year after this World Cup. The then 21-year-old Groenen came on the field for Sherida Spitse on January 22, 2016, in the 0-2 victory in Denmark. Groenen and Janssen have not missed a single final tournament since their debut. Miedema only had to miss the previous World Cup due to an injury.

Oranje will play the farewell match against Finland on Thursday from 8:00 PM. The match in the stadium of SC Cambuur is the last test towards the European Championship.
