Orange with a possible basic eleven for the European Championships in the swing match against Finland

Orange with a possible basic eleven for the European Championships in the swing match against Finland

The lineup of the Orange Women for the farewell match against Finland has no surprises. National coach Andries Jonker starts on Thursday in Leeuwarden with a starting eleven that is possibly the same as in the opening match at the European Championship in Switzerland.

As announced by Jonker, Vivianne Miedema is in the starting lineup. Furthermore, Esmee Brugts starts. The left back of FC Barcelona only joined Orange later, because she had been given a longer vacation due to club obligations.

It is plausible that tonight’s base formation is also the starting formation for the first European Championship match against Wales next Saturday. During the open training sessions of Orange, the same formation was regularly trained in party games.

However, Lineth Beerensteyn will return to the base against Wales, provided she is fit. A little more than a week before the start of the European Championship, the VfL Wolfsburg attacker is still absent due to injury. Against Finland she is replaced by Victoria Pelova.

The match between Orange and Finland starts tonight at 8 p.m. and will be played in the Cambuur stadium. Finland is number 26 on the FIFA world ranking.

After the opening match against Wales, Orange will play against England (July 9) and France (July 13) in the group stage of the European Championship. Orange must finish in the top two in the group for a place in the knockout phase.
