Arianne Hartono will not make her debut at Wimbledon this year. The Dutch tennis player lost in the second qualifying round to Talia Gibson from Australia on Wednesday: 3-6, 6-4 and 4-6.
The 29-year-old Hartono (WTA-187) started poorly in Roehampton and lost the first set against the eight-year-younger Gibson (WTA-129). In the exciting second set, the tennis player from Meppel only needed one break to level the score.
Hartono broke her opponent quickly in the third and decisive set, but could not hold on to the lead. She cleverly saved three match points at 4-5, but then had to acknowledge Gibson as her superior.
Hartono has never been active in the main tournament of Wimbledon. The tennis player has only played at the Australian Open at Grand Slam level. She was eliminated immediately in Melbourne in 2022 and 2023.
