PSV Women will play against Manchester United in the second qualifying round of the Champions League. FC Twente was drawn against Red Star Belgrade from Serbia in Tuesday’s draw in Nyon.
The second qualifying round consists of mini-tournaments with four clubs per pool. On August 27, PSV will face a tough opponent in United. The club of European Championship participant Dominique Janssen finished third in England last season.
The winner of the match between PSV and United will play three days later against Hammarby IF from Sweden or FC Metalist from Ukraine. The winner of this encounter will advance to the third and final qualifying round.
FC Twente will play against Red Star on August 27, the champion of Serbia. The winner will then play against Breidablik from Iceland or a club that qualifies for the second qualifying round via the first qualifying round.
FC Twente was eliminated in the group stage of the Champions League last season. Trainer Joran Pot’s team had to acknowledge Chelsea and Real Madrid as their superiors. From next season, the Tukkers will be led by Corina Dekker.
