It is very busy on the Festival op de Ring in Amsterdam on Saturday evening. Local media report that dozens of people are climbing over the fences along the highway. City channel AT5 says it has received several messages from visitors who want to leave because of the crowds.
Due to the crowds around the Audio Obscura site, where a “highway rave” is scheduled, the music there was temporarily stopped on Saturday evening, a spokesperson for the organization said. Visitors climbed over fences.
Measures have now been taken, allowing the last half hour of the program to continue. “The police and security together have created a safe situation, allowing Audio Obscura to reopen for the last half hour,” the spokesperson said.
Elsewhere on the A10, near the stage of Kris Kross Amsterdam, an ANP reporter sees people climbing over the guardrail to get onto the performance site. Access to that site has been closed for hours due to the crowds.
According to the reporter, festival-goers are not only climbing over the guardrail to get onto the site, but also, and especially, to get away from it, as a shorter route. The Festival op de Ring officially lasts until 10:00 PM, but Kris Kross has said they will continue for another fifteen minutes.
