Diesel price at the pump up considerably due to conflict Middle East

The diesel price has risen sharply in recent days due to the conflict in the Middle East. At the pump, people are now paying more than 1.88 euros per liter. The gasoline price has also risen slightly.

According to Paul van Selms of UnitedConsumers, this may be related to certain oil that is less available. “You can get more diesel from some oil, and it may be that this is now less available due to conflicts worldwide. So that can lead to hoarding of diesel.”

The oil price went down on Friday after US President Donald Trump’s decision to postpone a decision on a US attack on Iran for two weeks.

On Thursday, the oil price rose sharply. This was due to concerns about direct involvement of the United States in Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities and disruptions to the global oil market due to the conflict.

The price of a barrel of Brent crude, the benchmark for oil from the Middle East, fell by more than 2 percent on Friday morning and fell below 77 dollars.

On Thursday, the oil price went up almost 3 percent. Since the outbreak of the conflict between Israel and Iran a week ago, oil has become about 10 percent more expensive.
