Two injured people's danger after fatal accident Rotterdamse Waalhaven

The two employees who were seriously injured in an accident in the Rotterdam Waalhaven on Thursday are no longer in life-threatening condition. This is reported by their employer C. Steinweg Group. Two people died in the accident.

On Thursday, a port crane had to be used to get the two seriously injured employees out of an inland vessel. They were unloading steel plates in the hold of the ship when things went wrong. They were then taken to the hospital by ambulance.

For two other employees, help came too late. They died on the spot. The atmosphere in the company is “subdued” on Friday after the fatal accident, a spokesperson told news agency ANP. Earlier, the company said it was already “deeply touched” and “devastated”.

The Dutch Labor Inspectorate and the Safety Investigation Council are investigating what exactly happened.
