Twee Nederlanders zijn betrapt toen ze met meer dan 36.000 stuks illegaal vuurwerk van Polen naar Duitsland wilden rijden. Bij een grenscontrole vond de Duitse douane hun lading. Het vuurwerk, in totaal ruim 540 kilo, was verdeeld over twee auto’s.
Een twintigjarige man zei dat hij verantwoordelijk was voor de gehele voorraad vuurwerk in beide auto’s, schrijft de douane in een verklaring. Hij had geen papieren bij zich om aan te tonen dat hij de lading mocht vervoeren.
Volgens de douane zei de man dat hij op weg was voor een familiebedrijf, maar wilde hij verder niets zeggen.
Het ging om vuurwerk uit de categorie F3. Alleen professionals mogen dat afsteken, voor consumenten is het verboden.
Het vuurwerk is in beslag genomen. Justitie in Duitsland doet verder onderzoek naar de man. Hij wordt mogelijk nog vervolgd.
Two Dutch citizens were caught trying to drive more than 36,000 pieces of illegal fireworks from Poland to Germany. German customs found their cargo during a border control. The fireworks, totaling more than 540 kilos, were distributed over two cars.
A twenty-year-old man said he was responsible for the entire stock of fireworks in both cars, the customs office writes in a statement. He had no papers with him to prove that he was allowed to transport the cargo.
According to customs, the man said he was on his way for a family business, but he didn’t want to say anything else.
It concerned fireworks from category F3. Only professionals are allowed to set that off, it is forbidden for consumers.
The fireworks have been confiscated. Justice in Germany is conducting further investigation into the man. He may still be prosecuted.
