Regional lenders want to save Vitesse, foreign owners almost gone

A group of regional investors is making a last-ditch attempt to save Vitesse from collapse, the club reported on Tuesday. They are currently in talks with the foreign owners to take over all shares of the club.

The investors, who are united in a group called ‘Sterkhouders Vitesse Arnhem’ (Pillars of Vitesse Arnhem), still need to be approved by the KNVB’s licensing committee. According to Vitesse, the required request for the new ownership will be submitted to the association in the “short term.”

It remains to be seen whether all this will be enough to save Vitesse. Last month, the licensing committee made it clear that it would withdraw the Arnhem team’s professional license because they had once again failed to comply with important agreements.
