The American Vance Boelter, who is suspected of killing a Democratic politician and shooting another, also visited the homes of two other politicians on the same day. According to the judiciary, he had “the intention to murder them”.

The 57-year-old Boelter was arrested on Sunday evening after a two-day manhunt. He is suspected of shooting dead politician Melissa Hortman and her husband at their home on Saturday. Hortman was the main Democrat in the House of Representatives in the state of Minnesota.

The American is also accused of shooting another Democratic politician, Senator John Hoffmann, and his wife. That happened at their home, a few kilometers from Hortman’s house.

The shooter committed the attacks on the night of Friday to Saturday (local time) in Brooklyn Park, a neighborhood in the north of the city of Minneapolis. He pretended to be an officer, after which he shot at the politicians and their spouses.

Prosecutors say that Boelter, disguised as a police officer, visited the homes of two other politicians on Saturday, probably to target them as well. The police found a list in his car with the names of dozens of members of parliament, mainly Democrats.

Boelter was charged on Monday with two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder, Reuters writes. If convicted, Boelter could be sentenced to life imprisonment, without the possibility of parole.
