Jimin and Jung Kook of the South Korean pop group BTS completed their mandatory military service on Wednesday. Upon their departure from the base in Yeoncheon, they were greeted by a large group of fans and journalists.
The singers appeared in uniform and were welcomed with loud applause, writes press agency Yonhap. “It’s been a long time due to corona and then the army, so thank you very much for waiting for us,” said Jimin.
Jung Kook said he felt a bit uncomfortable. “It’s been a while since I stood in front of a camera and I’m a little shy. I don’t even have make-up on. I don’t really know what to say.”
Fellow band members RM and V completed their military service a day earlier. Jin and J-Hope already returned from the army last year. Suga, the seventh member of the K-pop group, is expected to complete his military service at the end of June.
According to South Korean media, BTS may perform together again later this year.
