OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, says it has restored its main systems after an hours-long outage. However, work is still being done to fully restore the chatbot.
Thousands of ChatGPT users have been experiencing an outage of the chatbot since Tuesday morning. As a result, they sometimes had to wait a long time for an answer or did not receive an answer at all. AI video maker Sora was also not working properly.
Thousands of reports were received on the website Allestoringen.nl from people experiencing problems with ChatGPT. Complaints about the functioning of the apps were also received in other countries.
OpenAI announced that it was working on the problems. The cause of the problem was found in the course of the afternoon. The company only had the main systems in order in the evening. The biggest peak is over on Allestoringen.nl and there are now a few hundred reports.
The OpenAI website states that the outage has now lasted about thirteen hours. It also shows that a number of ChatGPT applications are still experiencing a “reduced performance”.
It is not yet clear when all ChatGPT applications will be fully functional again.
