Microsoft comes for the first time with a portable variant of the Xbox

Microsoft is releasing a portable version of the Xbox game console for the first time. This means gamers will no longer be forced to play in front of the TV, but can also game on the train, for example.

The so-called ROG Xbox Ally is expected to be released later this year, Microsoft announced on Sunday.

The new console will be available in two versions: the Xbox Ally and the Xbox Ally X. The first variant is characterized by its price-quality ratio, according to Microsoft. The Xbox Ally X “offers more for gamers who want to get the best performance and visual settings out of their favorite games.”

Both consoles are made in collaboration with the Taiwanese ASUS. According to gaming websites, these are actually modified versions of the ROG Ally from ASUS.

When the new portable Xbox will be released exactly is not yet known. It is also unclear how much the consoles will cost. Microsoft promises to release more details about the price and release date in the coming months.

The unveiling of the portable Xbox comes just a few days after the release of Nintendo’s Switch 2. It can also be used as a portable console. Its predecessor, the Switch, was very popular in previous years.
