The search for a woman who was reportedly giving birth in the nature reserve near Rockanje in South Holland was not resumed on Sunday. Police strongly suspect a false report.
The emergency services received a report from an agency around 5:00 PM on Saturday. A woman had contacted the agency via her laptop and said she was giving birth in the dune area and needed help.
The police searched the Voornes Duin nature reserve with sniffer dogs, horses, a helicopter, and drones, but did not find the woman. The search was called off shortly after 10:00 PM and will not continue on Sunday.
“No new leads have come in, and we strongly suspect that a false report has been made,” a police spokesperson told news agency ANP.
The police are asking people who know or have seen anything to come forward.
