Friday pressed on the road due to Pentecost weekend and NS strike

The ANWB expects traffic on Friday due to the start of the long Whit weekend. Many people use those days to go to campsites and holiday parks. In addition, no trains will run all day due to an NS strike.

Due to the Whit weekend, the ANWB expects the evening rush hour on Thursday to be a bit busier than usual.

On Friday, the first traffic jams are expected to occur around noon. Most will be on the roads in Noord-Brabant and Gelderland. For example, it is expected to be very busy on the A1, A28 and A50 towards the Veluwe. There are also likely to be traffic jams in Zeeland and on the A7 near the Afsluitdijk.

Around Nijmegen, there are long-term works on the A73 at the Ewijk junction, which cause extra delays. The ANWB expects the peak to be between 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM on Friday.

On Friday, the staff of the NS will strike. As a result, no NS trains will run throughout the day. The ANWB estimates that this may cause extra traffic on the road.

Locally also traffic jams due to events

Anyone driving along the border with Germany this weekend should take into account a lot of delays due to border controls. As a result, it is regularly congested on the A1 from Hengelo, the A12 from Arnhem and the A76 from Geleen.

Around Pentecost, events also take place that cause local traffic jams. These include the Pentecost Races at Circuit Zandvoort (Friday to Sunday), the Harmony of Hardcore festival in Erp (Saturday) and the Fietselfstedentocht in Friesland (Monday).

On Monday, Whit Monday, traffic jams arise due to returning holiday traffic. In addition, many day trippers are also out and about. The ANWB expects it to be busy on the roads from noon.
