67′ Oei, that HAS TO BE 2-1. Leuchter gets the ball from close range on a silver platter, but hits the ball completely wrong. She should have lashed out mercilessly there.
62′ Wow, Scotland almost takes the lead! The away team is pushing and is increasingly succeeding in playing through the Dutch block. Cuthbert’s shot flies just a few centimeters wide.
61′ The usually friendly Orange crowd starts booing and whistling. Leuchter is brought down in a promising position, but the referee doesn’t want to know anything about a foul. There is no VAR, so the Orange striker will have to live with this decision. The stadium at least doesn’t agree.
To prevent this live blog from becoming a long slab of text, it’s high time for a photo. Unfortunately for these fans, no cheering image from the Koning Willem II Stadium yet.
53′ Leuchter turns away excellently in Scotland’s sixteen-yard box and comes face to face with the keeper. Because the Orange striker is being held, she doesn’t get enough power behind the ball and her shot rolls wide of the goal.
50′ Phew, Orange gets away with that one. In an attempt to clear the ball, Spitse doesn’t hit the ball well. The Scots take over, but produce an easy shot for Champions League winner Van Domselaar. That was a piece of cake for her.
46′ Kick-off second half! The players were ready for a while, but can now really start again. It is important for confidence towards the European Championship to win.
The statistics look a lot better than last Friday against Germany.
Halftime! The first 45 minutes are over. Orange could have had a comfortable lead, and should have actually. Yet it is really equal: 1-1.
The plague of Orange: Lee Gibson. She ‘only’ plays for Glasgow City, but with this match she may well be playing herself into the spotlight of a bigger club.
39′ By the way, Orange won the previous match against Scotland with difficulty 1-2 in Glasgow. Just like today, Orange created many chances then, but the Scottish keeper stood in the way. National coach Andries Jonker called Lee Gibson ‘an airplane’ afterwards, she made so many saves.
38′ Chance for Leuchter, but the tap-in from the PSG striker flies just wide of the goal.
35′ The stands are a bit less cheerful than ten minutes ago. Orange continues to push, but must also remain vigilant. The Scots occasionally come out dangerously on the counter.
27′ GOAL Scotland! 1-1
What is this?! Roord is close to her second goal on one side, but Gibson prevents the 2-0 with a good save. Not even 10 seconds later, the ball is in on the other side! Spitse is not entirely blameless here, because she lets McGovern walk away from her back like that. Van Domselaar is then helpless.
And this photo should of course not be missing. Roord with her thirtieth goal for Orange.
Nice shot of the moment before the match. Sherida Spitse became a record international for Europe in the previous international period. She is now working on her 243rd international match.
10′ GOAL Orange! 1-0
Jill Roord is played in by Romée Leuchter. Her shot is initially saved by the Scottish keeper, but in the rebound it is a hit. A better start than last Friday, when Orange fell behind early. Roord’s girlfriend Pien Sanders celebrates the party from the stands.
1′ Kick-off! The ball is rolling in Tilburg. Orange will be eager to wash away the hangover from Bremen.
Sherida Spitse is put in the spotlight for achieving the European record of 241 international matches. She receives a nice plaque and a bouquet of flowers from Jan Dirk van der Zee. Although she gives it back a few seconds later, that doesn’t play so well. Time for the national anthems!
