Another five young people were arrested for the riots in Scheveningen from the beginning of May. In total, nine suspects have now been arrested.
On Wednesday, a sixteen -year -old boy from Leidschendam and a fifteen -year -old boy from The Hague were arrested. They are still being interrogated and are still stuck.
The police have arrested three other suspects for the past two weeks. They have since been interrogated and must appear before the juvenile court at a later time. They were released again after the interrogation.
One of them was a seventeen -year -old boy from Gouda. He reported to the police station on Friday 16 May after he was recognized on images of the riots. And Tuesday two boys aged fifteen and seventeen were arrested. They both come from The Hague.
Earlier, the police already arrested four minor suspects. They too were allowed to go again after the interrogation and have to answer for the juvenile court.
Young people turned against the police
The suspects were arrested after large groups of young people turned against the police on the evening of 1 May in Scheveningen. They had come to the Scheveningen Boulevard after different groups had threatened each other via social media.
Several hundred young people hit each other. When the police intervened, the crowd focused on agents. Young people threw stones, bicycles and glassware. The ME had to intervene to restore order.
The investigation into other stakeholders is still ongoing. The police do not exclude further arrests.
