Rabobank invests a billion in rental properties in the Eindhoven region

Rabobank is investing one billion euros in mid-rental housing in the Eindhoven region in the coming years. This is being done through the BPD Woningfonds (BPD Housing Fund), a part of the bank.

According to Rabobank, the need is great due to the rapid growth of the region and a shortage of affordable rental housing. Ultimately, 2,750 of these types of homes need to be realized.

Rabobank acknowledges that there is a tight market for affordable rental housing throughout the Netherlands. But in the Brainport region, the technology region in and around Eindhoven, “the challenge is particularly great”.

BPD Woningfonds focuses on new-build homes that must be affordable. The fund purchases homes at an early stage of a construction project, ensuring that developers are assured that the homes to be built are actually sold. This guarantees the financing of developers for the project, according to Rabobank.

“BPD Woningfonds is there to offer households with middle incomes, such as starters, families, independently living elderly people, and elderly people with care needs, sustainable and affordable homes. Rabobank’s investment makes it possible to do this on a large scale in this region,” says Harm Janssen, CEO of BPD Bouwfonds Property Development.
