Young Dutch entrepreneurs can amass a large fortune if they engage in crypto trading or artificial intelligence (AI). This is evident from the Quote Top 100, a list of the hundred richest people under forty in the country.
For example, 38-year-old Douwe Kiela (pictured) is in second place among young rich people with a fortune of 200 million euros. He has accumulated this through his company Contextual AI, with which he develops AI applications for companies. Other successful young entrepreneurs such as Stef van Grieken and Alex Mans have also become rich through AI.
The entrepreneurs behind crypto platform Bitvavo are also doing well. According to business magazine Quote, they saw their already considerable assets grow by tens of percent last year.
Job van der Voort is number one, just like last year. He has assets of 650 million euros, more than 8 percent more than a year ago. Van der Voort owns Remote, which specializes in HR software.
Kiela is in second place. The top three is completed by Ruud Pierik, founder of Elektramat, a wholesaler of electrical products such as charging stations and cables.
The highest-ranked woman is Sharon Hilgers. She has access to assets of 58 million euros, which she collected through her jewelry store My Jewellery.
