All victims of stabbing Hamburg stable, bystanders were worse

The medical condition of all eighteen victims of the stabbing at the Hamburg train station is stable, according to German police. This also applies to four seriously injured people. It is unclear whether they are still in mortal danger.

Three women aged 24, 52 and 85 and a 24-year-old man were in mortal danger after the stabbing. Seven others were seriously injured and another seven people were slightly injured. The victims are between 19 and 85 years old.

The police have arrested a 39-year-old woman. She will appear before a judge on Saturday. There are no indications of a political motive. The police assume that the victims were chosen at random. The suspect was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The victims were stabbed on Friday while waiting for a train. According to the police, two passers-by helped the security services to overpower the woman. This prevented more victims from falling.

The police and the public prosecutor are still investigating the circumstances of the incident. German media report that the suspect has a mental disorder, but the police will not confirm this.
