Djokovic reaches final Geneva and is one win from a hundredth ATP title

Novak Djokovic has reached the final of the ATP tournament in Geneva on Friday. The 24-time Grand Slam winner is now one victory away from his hundredth title on the ATP Tour.

The 38-year-old Djokovic was too strong for the Brit Cameron Norrie (ATP-90) in the semi-final in three sets: 6-4, 6-7 (6) and 6-1. The match on the Swiss gravel lasted about two hours and fifteen minutes.

For his hundredth tournament victory, Djokovic must face Hubert Hurkacz in the final. The Pole defeated the Austrian Sebastian Ofner in the other semi-final with 6-3 and 6-4.

Djokovic has been waiting for his hundredth tournament victory since his Olympic title in Paris. He then reached the final twice, but lost in Shanghai to Jannik Sinner and was surprised in Miami by the Czech Jakub Mensík.

Djokovic Squanders Match Point in Second Set

In his semi-final in Geneva, Djokovic had enough of a break in the first set. Then the number six in the world fell behind 1-4 in the second set.

Djokovic survived a set point at 2-5 and fought back, so a tiebreak had to make the decision. In it, the Serbian wasted a match point and Norrie struck on his second set point.

In the decisive set, Djokovic quickly ran out to 3-0. He did not relinquish that lead, allowing him to take his hundredth title on Saturday.
