In a shooting in Amsterdam on Thursday evening, two people were seriously injured. During a fight between several people, according to the police, shots were fired “suddenly.” Five people have been arrested, including the injured. The police are still looking for another suspect.
Two people were seriously injured, a police spokesperson confirms to NU.nl. “One of the men sustained a gunshot wound. He has been taken to the hospital.”
Later, another man with an injury reported to a hospital. It is not yet clear what kind of injury he has. “It could be a gunshot wound, but also a stab wound.”
The incident happened around 6:55 PM on the Bantammerbrug on the Geldersekade in the center of Amsterdam. According to the spokesperson, a fight broke out during an argument. “Then suddenly shots were fired.” The cause of the fight is not known.
Several people then fled. Two of them, a man and a woman, were arrested near the Pentagon because of the shooting. In total, five people have been arrested, including the two injured.
The spokesperson could not yet say anything about the identity of the suspects. The police are still “urgently” looking for another suspect.
