The two fatalities in Wednesday’s stabbing incident in Hoofddorp are men aged 21 and 22. They were both from Hoofddorp. The death of one of them is still under investigation, as the police may have been involved.
Around 6:05 AM, police received a report of a dispute in a home on Fanny Blankers-Koenlaan in Hoofddorp. Ten minutes later, officers found two people there who were involved in a stabbing incident. Both have died.
One person died as a result of the stabbing incident. The death of the second person is still under investigation. Police used force and fired shots at the scene. When police use force and people are seriously injured or die, the National Criminal Investigation Department conducts a standard investigation.
A spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service could not say on Thursday why shots were fired or whether anyone was hit. Police said on Wednesday that their involvement “played a role”.
Two officers were injured in the incident and treated at the hospital. It is unclear how the officers sustained their injuries.
