United-coach Amorim after lost final: 'If club doesn't want me, I will be gone tomorrow'

Manchester United coach RĂºben Amorim is not considering resigning after the lost Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur (1-0). The Portuguese coach hopes for trust from the fans and the club’s board.

Amorim started his press conference after the lost final in Bilbao by stating that he did not want to talk about his future. But when asked about his message to the fans after the disappointing season, the coach himself started talking about his position.

“I am not going to defend myself here now, that is not my style. I have nothing to show the fans what I am going to improve, nothing. At this moment they must have faith,” said Amorim.

“As I said before, I am always open. If the board and the fans feel that I am not the right man, I will leave the next day without a conversation about compensation. But I am not resigning. I have a lot of confidence in my job. I will not change anything in my approach.”

Amorim Sees An Advantage in Missing Out on European Football

Manchester United could have saved the season with the win of the Europa League. ‘The Red Devils’ are only sixteenth in the Premier League and are heading for their worst ranking since the relegation in 1974.

Due to the loss against Spurs, United will not play European football next season. Tottenham will receive a ticket for the Champions League through the EL win, in which the English club earns at least 80 million euros.

Amorim regrets that United missed the Champions League ticket, but approaches it positively. “We have to look at it from the other side. Now we have more time to think and work during the week to be better in the Premier League. That will be our focus.”

United hopes to end the season well on Sunday against Aston Villa. Amorim’s team will face the number six in the Premier League at 5:00 PM.
