The French justice system has demanded ten years in prison for Aomar Aït Khedache, the man who, according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, ordered the armed robbery of Kim Kardashian in Paris in 2016.
Khedache, who is now 69 years old, admits that he was involved in the robbery. However, he denies that he was in charge of the group of robbers. But according to the prosecutor, he was the one who “gave the orders and recruited”.
Kardashian was in Paris in 2016 for Paris Fashion Week. When she wanted to go to sleep at night, five armed men forced their way into her hotel room. They tied her up with tie wraps and held her at gunpoint. In the end, the robbers stole about 9 million euros worth of jewelry, including the diamond wedding ring that the reality star had received from her then-husband Ye.
Kardashian testified earlier this month in the Paris court. She said she feared for her life. “At that moment I was sure they were going to shoot me,” said the emotional Kardashian. “So I prayed for my family, my mother, my sister and my best friend.”
The reality star also talked about the consequences that the robbery had for her and her family. According to Kardashian, she suffered trauma from the event.
One of the Robbers wrote a book
Two of the ten suspects, who are also known as the ‘Grandpa Gang’ because of their old age, had previously confessed to being involved in the robbery. In addition to Khedache, 72-year-old Yunice Abbas confessed to involvement. He wrote a book entitled J’ai Séquestré Kim Kardashian (I kidnapped Kim Kardashian, ed.).
Initially there were twelve suspects, but in March one of them, 72-year-old Marceau Baum-Gertner, died. Another suspect is too ill to appear in court. The sentences against the other suspects are not yet known.
