53 years after Bloody Sunday starts first lawsuit against British soldier

More than 53 years after Fourteen Unarmed People Were Shot Dead at Protests in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, A British Soldier is on Trial for the first time. He is battery of shooting two men on the day that went down in History as Bloody Sunday.

Northern Irish Protesters Revolted on Sunday, January 30, 1972, Against British Rule and Human Rights Volations Against Previously arrested Protesters in Prisons. Althegh the Demonstration was Peaceful, British Soldiers Opened Fire. Fourteen Men and Boys Were Killed and Thirteen Others Were Injured.

A British Commission of Inquiry Initially Ruled that the Soldiers at Bloody Sunday Were Responding to Shooters and Bombers, and Therefore Could Not Be Held Responsible. In 2010, a new commission concluded that none of the Victims Were Armed. The British Government Apologized for the “Unjust and Indefensible Death” of the Protesters.

Neverbertheless, The Public Prosecutors Decided that the only Soldier Susped of Murder, Soldier F., would not be be prosecuted. The Case Against the Other Soldiers had Already Been Discontinued Due to a Lack of Evidence. Relatives have challengeed the dropping of the case Against Soldier F.

And successful. More than half a century after the events on Bloody Sunday, Soldier F. Will Appear in Court in Belfast On Monday. To protect his identity, he is surrounded by Large Black Cloths.

Soldier F. Susped or Two Murders

He is suspended of shooting dead 22-year-old Jim Wray and 26-year-old William McKinney, Seen in the Image Below. He is also on Trial for Attempted Murder on Five Others. Soldier F. Has Always Mintained that the men posed a threat, but research shows that they were shot in the back.

Lawyers for the Prosecutors Say the Civilians Were Running Away Away A Residential Courtyard when they were shot. “The Shooting was Unnecessary and was a carried out with the intention to kill,” One of the Lawyers Said Duration the Trial. The Trial Will Last For Week.

Bloody Sunday Known Worldwide

Bloody Sunday is one of the most notorious events from a period full of violence and unrest between irish nationalist Catholics and pro-British Protestant, also Known as the Troubles. The day gained worldwide Attention through the Song Sunday Bloody Sunday by the band U2.

The Troubles Lasted from 1969 to 1998, when the good Friday Agreement was Signed by the British Government, The Catholics and Protestants. The Conflict had Claimed Some Three Thousand Lives at that time.

In 2022, for the first time since the good Friday, A British Soldier was Convicted for Shooting Someone Dead in 1988. He was Given a Suspended Prison Sentence.
